Between April and September 2023, Microsoft plans to release another wave of updates to Dynamics 365 Business Central. Here are a few new features to look forward to during 2023.
News by region
Multi-enterprise accounting management
Microsoft has focused on simplifying the processing of accounting for multiple companies at the same time in intercompany accounting. Along with this, the Intercompany Contributions application has been improved to facilitate intercompany transactions.
Closing of accounts
New updates will allow data to be added to analytical tools even with the help of statistical accounts. These allow transactions in the general ledger to be analysed. Another useful new feature is G/L Settlement, adding the ability to use general ledger entries to reconcile receivables and payables.
Microsoft AppSource
As part of the updates, AppSource contributors get the ability to send app previews to selected customers and monetize them through the AppSource Marketplace. Customers can then now add content to existing spreadsheets to already created pages for user customization without the need for coding.
General technical improvements
Microsoft is making a few other improvements to the stability of the solution. There should now be less frequent login problems or application crashes. Client-side application page load times are planned to speed up work through external devices or Teams, as well as runtime optimization.
Also interesting is a new type of ERROR messages with action - if you end up on an error, the system will navigate you and directly suggest how to fix the error.
Reporting and data analysis
The updates bring tools for grouping, filtering data directly from the Business Central environment. To check data or create a simple report, now just enable data analysis on any list and use any of the tabs offered. These allow you to select columns, sort data, set filters or export data. In addition, the tabs are saved on the list and are thus available at any time thereafter.
Legislative updates
As part of the first update for 2023, Microsoft has provided support for non-deductible VAT. This will initially only be available in W1 but will be added to local versions of Business Central over time.
Localization
The update will make Business Central available for more than 130 countries. In addition, there will be an update for regulatory features available in countries where Microsoft is directly responsible for localization.
Microsoft Copilot
The big news is the integration of the Copilot language model into Microsoft 365 applications. Users can now leverage artificial intelligence for content creation, text editing, quick data analysis and many other tasks. In the first wave of updates, Copilot will be able to be used to create product descriptions.
Power Platform
As part of improving the integration of Business Central and Power Platform, Microsoft has focused on simplifying the approval workflow and adding sample apps to help novice developers take their first steps in Power Apps. It's also expected to ease the distribution of flows in Power Apps and Power Automate to simplify the use of both platforms.
